http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-ws-policy/2007Feb/0005.html

ACTION-219 Maryann to work with Asir and Umit to review the changed WS-A Metadata document Due: 2007-02-14
Status: See request for discussion of Guidelines issues:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-ws-policy/2007Feb/0063.html
I have moved these issues earlier on the agenda (after our CFI and WSDL 11 discussions).

7. WS-Policy Call for Implementations, Chair
Status: We need to complete this agenda item on Feb 14 to be prepared for our Director's call on Feb 21.

a) W3C Process 7.4.3 Call for Implementations (aka Candidate Recommendation)
http://www.w3.org/2005/10/Process-20051014/tr.html#cfi
Status: our CFI must cover the following items:

i) the Working Group SHOULD include a report of present and expected implementations as part of the request.

Status: As discussed on Feb 7:
Will be participating: IBM, MSFT and WS02
Maybe's include: Webmethods, Axway, Iona

Updates since Feb 7: Layer 7 have confirmed there CR participation.
Paul and Chris are discussing external participation especially re UDDI support.

Results of previous interop:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-ws-policy/2006Jun/att-0010/ws-policy-workshop-minutes-April-2006.doc

ii) the Working Group MAY identify specific features of the technical report as being "features at risk"
Asir's note:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-ws-policy/2007Feb/0022.html

Status: WG members to consider the proposed three features "at risk" and come prepared to nail down the final list for the transition
Request at the Feb 14 meeting.

iii) The request to the Director to advance a technical report to Candidate Recommendation MUST indicate whether the Working Group expects to satisfy any Proposed Recommendation entrance criteria beyond the default requirements

Default PR criteria are: Shown that each feature of the technical report has been implemented. Preferably, the Working Group SHOULD be able to demonstrate two interoperable implementations of each feature.

Status: We discussed the prospect of raising the bar on all non-at-risk features to 4 implementations (or more) with 2 for the features at risk. It was suggested that asking for 4 implementations for WSDL 2.0 items might not be feasible since there are not that number of participants in the WSDL 2.0 CR.
Members were encouraged to think about whether this is an appropriate "bar" to set for WS-Policy CFI exit criteria.

iv) The announcement MUST indicate a minimal duration, before which the Working Group MUST NOT request a Call for Review of a Proposed Recommendation; this minimal duration is designed to allow time for comment.

Status: members were asked to consider the end of May (following the May F2F) as the earliest possible date to transition to PR.

v) The announcement SHOULD also include the Working Group's estimate of the time expected to gather sufficient implementation data.

Status: The WG charter timeline predicted a July 2007 PR. Members were asked whether using this date as the expected duration of the CFI period was
acceptable.

8. WSDL 1.1 Element Identifiers

a) Issue 4251 Change syntax for some WSDL 1.1 identifiers
http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=4251
Ashok's proposal:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-ws-policy/2007Jan/0169.html
David's correction:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-ws-policy/2007Jan/0180.html
Status: At the F2F meeting WG members asked for more time to consider this matter. There are two alternatives to choose between. We have had to delay this item several times due to lack of key participants. Paul has confirmed that Ashok and David will be available on Feb 14 to discuss this item.
