Re: [csswg-drafts] [css-color-4] Channel clipping breaks author expectations, especially when using 'perceptually uniform' spaces (#9449)

Thanks for all the input here!

I like bottosson's suggestion of having a mapping to most of the visual spectrum rather than a specific gamut. I definitely would like a normative mapping for `oklab` and `oklch` that gets us to something like that. That would also provide a good delineation of "up to this point you do it this normative way, but after that it's up to you to get to the screen".

I might be a bit more iffy about imposing that mapping on the RGB spaces (because they have clearer guardrails, and for their potential use as extended spaces), but I think the impact of how that is resolved is much smaller.
