RE: Link to wiki page about Data Usage scenarios

Thanks Bernadette and Eric, that’ a real good start.

May I make a suggestion?

I think it would be good to limit the scope to how, for what and by whom the data is used. In particular, I think the Data Usage Description Vocabulary should not cover aspects like:

* Is the data up to date or irrelevant?

* What is the data’s perceived intrinsic value?

While those aspects might be relevant for others to determine whether they should consider using the data, those aspects are better covered by a Quality vocabulary.

By the way, I think that you should not put “up to date or irrelevant” together. ‘Up-to-date’ is a Quality aspect that can be stated by the publisher (“data was last updated on date D”, “data represents situation at time T”), while ‘irrelevant’ is an aspect of Usage that will be expressed by a user.

Makx.

Subject: Link to wiki page about Data Usage scenarios

Hi all,

As mentioned in the call today, Eric and I are working on the definition of data usage activities and scenarios. We created a wiki page [1] with some general definitions and a scenario template, which includes a list of questions that will help the identification of data usage requirements.

This list of questions may be helpful if you're gonna write a new use case or to review an existing one.

kind regards,

Bernadette
