Use Case Webinar this Friday at 2pm ET.

The City of Chicago maintains a robust open data portal which publishes
data on crime, water data, business licenses, inspections and permits,
energy consumption, and hundreds of other datasets. Most of these datasets
are automatically updated, which the City has released as an open-source
framework to permit other cities to deploy automation. The Computation
Institute at the University of Chicago has partnered with the city to
launch Array of Things, a network of sensors on city traffic lights that
will report on environmental data. The data will be open and available
through the City's open data portal. Meanwhile, Chicago has also launched a
user-friendly data dictionary, which will contain schema-level information
on Chicago databases and the location where they are housed. The platform
was launched as an open source project under the name <metalicious />. The
City is working on forming partnerships with other governments and
organizations to launch the next phase of development.

Tom Schenck is the Chief Data Officer for the City of Chicago and he will
talk to us about Chicago's Open Data program:

- Building a Smarter City with Open Data
- Standards: Efforts to standardize the City's Glossary
- Internet of Things: Deploying Street Sensors to measure pollution and
noise
