Noah, I think it would be great for Dom to join us to give us an overview of the issues. We can then decide whether they are already being dealt with elsewhere and if not whether we have enough expertise within the TAG to sensibly deal with them, or if there would be a better route to ensuring that the W3C focuses some expert attention on the topic (for example by setting up a Task Force). Of the sessions that we've discussed, I imagine that the session closest to Dom's interests would be that on Robin's promised work on API minimisation/design, so scheduling that close to the proposed session on the web security model would probably be useful, in case he wants to join. The advantage I see is that it's a good opportunity to draw on Dom's expertise in person; if there's a downside, it's that the TAG considered working on security several times, even at one point identified it as a high priority, and generally in the end we've decided that others outside the TAG have more expertise in the area than we do. What's your preference regaarding a F2F slot on this? If there are other specific sessions where you feel it would be helpful to have Dom join us, please let me know that too. > > Thank you. > > Noah > > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: Dom visiting the TAG > Date: Fri, 16 Mar 2012 11:46:33 +0100 > From: Robin Berjon <robin@berjon.com> > To: Noah Mendelsohn <nrm@arcanedomain.com>, Dominique Hazael-Massieux <dom@w3.org> > > Hi Noah, > > as discussed on the call yesterday I believe that the TAG could benefit greatly from the opportunity of being in Dom's area to invite him (copied) over to talk with us. > > The topic that Dom has mentioned being interested in is that of trusted web applications/permissions/the web security model. As he says, it is clearly cross-group, technical, and fundamental to the way that Web clients work. The current model is cracking at the seams, and this could be a candidate for the TAG to form a task force to help coordinate work in this area. I think that it would be well-worth discussing this issue; I personally consider it the one big problem in Web standards today. > > Additionally, I believe that Dom may be able to join us for other sessions as soon as there is an agenda for him to peruse. > > -- > Robin Berjon - http://berjon.com/ - @robinberjon > > > > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: Re: Dom visiting the TAG > Date: Sun, 18 Mar 2012 11:41:09 -0400 > From: Noah Mendelsohn <nrm@arcanedomain.com> > To: Robin Berjon <robin@berjon.com> > CC: Dominique Hazael-Massieux <dom@w3.org> > > That makes sense to me, but I'll need to check with the rest of the TAG.
