I will love to remove the name of the countries using a more general note: NOTE: In some countries the term "subtitle" is used to refer to captions. In other countries "subtitle" is used for dialog only, and captions is used as the term for dialog plus sounds and sometimes speaker identification. Also another question: shall we also explain difference between closed and open captions? -----Original Message----- From: Yvette Hoitink [mailto:y.p.hoitink@heritas.nl] Sent: Friday, February 24, 2006 9:58 AM To: 'Gregg Vanderheiden'; 'Roberto Scano (IWA/HWG)'; w3c-wai-gl@w3.org Subject: RE: New Caption Definition - please comment In addition, I would advise to use "the United Kingdom" instead of "England". The word "subtitles" is used in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/info/policies/subtitles.shtml for information on subtitles for the BBC (the UK's main TV network).
