Acknowledging that I'm not swapped in on the payments markets elsewhere in the world, I imagine there's enough variation that this 'wait for clear demand' approach will lead to some (unhelpful, unwanted, and possibly harmful) convergence, driven by the US payment market. Or, perhaps even less desirably, to less adoption of this technology worldwide.
