To confirm that such a prefix usage is possible, I have created {{WPDLanguages}} template[1] as the forked version of {{Languages}} for testing purpose. The example of Japanese translation article [2] could show how this template works. (The result of {{WPDLanguage}} appears at the bottom of [2].)
