RE: Prep for tomorrow's meeting

My notes from today’s call follow.

Attending: Alastair Campbell, Bruce Bailey, Dan Bjorge, David Cox, Francis Storr, Giacomo Petri, Lori Oakley, Mike Gower, Patrick Lauke,

We followed the stock agenda (as shared yesterday) and worked from the project board<https://github.com/orgs/w3c/projects/56>; per our WCAG 2 Task Force process<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/wiki/WCAG-2-Task-Force-process> (on the GitHub wiki).

As a reminder, issues<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues> and pull requests<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pulls> remain public facing, and are updated with changes via the project board, one must be logged to see and use the project board. Other views are works in progress but Mike briefly highlighted the Completed changes<https://github.com/orgs/w3c/projects/56/views/7> table.

Some process issues briefly raised are pros/cons of linking to issues versus PR. Workflow for quality assurance remains open for discussion. Remediation of absolute versus relative links is one example.

Moved this from Drafted to Ready for approval

  * Add section on symbolic text characters to 1.4.11 understanding by patrickhlauke · Pull Request #2067<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/2067>
  * clarifying name, role, value by scottaohara · Pull Request #2207<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/2207> — Adding a link to “accessibility supported” was suggested during call, but that should be its own PR.
  * Add clarification that change of color still needs sufficient 3:1 ratio, darken focused star by patrickhlauke · Pull Request #3568<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/3568>
  *   Incorrect links · Issue #3639<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues/3639>

Discussed on call, status remains as Drafted

  * Rewrite definition for single pointer by patrickhlauke · Pull Request #3536<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/3536> — pleas see my comment <https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/3536#issuecomment-1900965361> for the notes I took during the call

Discussed on call, status is For discussion

  * Add two notes/clarifications to 2.1.1/2.1.3 understanding by patrickhlauke · Pull Request #1642<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/1642>

To Do items discussed but status not changed:

  *   WCAG 2.2 Errata: wrong reference to understanding URL (WCAG21 instead o WCAG22) · Issue #3635<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues/3635>
  * Fix link text in understanding 1.2.3 by patrickhlauke · Pull Request #3645<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/3645>
  * New CSS Technique for Focus Not Obscured: z-index focus modifier · Issue #3578<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues/3578> — additional expertise requested for validation
  * Should there be a section in 1.3.1 on the differences between layout tables and data tables · Issue #3524<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues/3524>
  * WCAG 2.2: Understanding 2.5.7 Dragging Movements links to 2.1 version of the Understanding 2.5.1 Pointer Gestures · Issue #3634<https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues/3634>

Subject: Prep for tomorrow's meeting

Hello Task Force members and other interested. We’ll be using our stock agenda for tomorrow’s call<https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/12f8250b-23af-4dc1-b25c-6285873846ce/20240119T110000/> at 11am EST:

  1.  Review ‘For discussion’ items
  2. Review ‘Drafted’ items (30 min), either:
     * move back to In progress, with more work to do
     * move to Ready for approval, if there is general agreement the issue is sufficiently resolved
     * leave in Drafted, if discussion was not concluded satisfactorily
  3.  Review ‘To do’.
  4. Time permitting, items of interest to participants, including open discussions.
Please take some time to familiarize yourself with any Drafted items you were assigned to review, and be ready to walk the group through them.

I wanted to flag that we have 2 dozen issues in the To Do column. Those without current assignments are encouraged to self-assign one and start working on it.

Thanks!
Mike
