RE: [ACTION-224] Provide a section of MT service provider as user

Dear Colleagues,

Reading the Section 1.3 and thinking over different types of potential users of ITS, I find some inconsistencies and repetitions that makes it difficult for me to describe the MT user and to understand and ensure if we cover all (at least well-known and approved by the team) types of users, e.g., one can find translators in several categories. This leads to an idea (maybe trivial), however, it makes the description more structural and transparent (imho): we are referring to two definite categories of users (maybe, more?) - content creators (providers) and content consumers. Both can be considered as tool developers for content creation and content consuming. Furthermore, both can be regarded as human users (e.g., language workers, including technical writers, authors, translators, editors etc.) and machine users (e.g., language technology tools, i.e., natural language processing tools, including machine translation, text mining, search, indexing etc.) which can benefit from the ITS-enriched content if they have been previously adapted to understand (process) this content. I wonder if such an approach makes sense. In case the team considers this "out of scope" I will just contribute to Pedro's text a bit.

With best wishes,
Tatiana

Subject: [ACTION-224] Provide a section of MT service provider as user

Dear all,

Here the paragraph I suggest to add:
Machine Translation
This type of user comprises developers, integrators, translation companies, post-editors, customers and other type of MT users. Data categories are envisaged for different automated processing in the input (from low level tasks, like parsing constraints and markup, to high level tasks, such as disambiguation); to generate in the output valuable metadata for third parties (for example, indicating provenance or quality scoring); and to pass through relevant information to needed tasks, such as MT post-editing, MT training and MT terminological enrichment.
Tatiana wanted to contribute to this. Please feel free to modify to have it ready for tomorrow.

Best,
Pedro
