Hoi, Some quick comments for this issue as well... I guess this will depend whether the URI manager is aware of the archive and wants to point to it. For instance, at DANS we are about to archive yearly dumps of http://lodlaundromat.org/ . This is a (complete ?) snapshot of the Web of Data performed by a crawler running at the VU. Every now and then they will restart the process from scratch and send us all the previous DB before they send it to the bin. None of the resource found in this dump are in the control of the VU so they won't be able to alter their representation. Furthermore most of the owners of these resources will not be aware of the existence of this dump. So the issue of removed/archived will be rather decoupled from the existence of a preserved copy. It's a bit like with the web archive, if a page goes 404 we can go there to look for a copy but there is no direct coupling. On the other hand, if we are in a controlled process where the data owner decides to dump previous versions of the description of its URIs to an archive the descriptions of these resources may contain links to past versions. This is what we are working on for the UDC classification ( http://udcdata.info/) , the goal is that they serve the latest version and we preserve all the previous ones.
