Google and URIs

FWIW, once upon a time, Google had a public XML/HTTP/URI interface
available at http://www.google.com/xml which returned data similar to
that now returned by their SOAP API.

URIs are good at returning data - all data.  They don't care who or what
consumes the data they source.
