Hello.
It is not clear to me how to create multilingual documents and not to
violate the corresponding xml schema at the same.
I'd like to write something like this:
<item>
<catid>C-2353J</catid>
<description xml:lang="en-US">This great summer tire
[...]</description>
<description xml:lang="en-GB">This great summer tyre
[...]</description>
<description xml:lang="fr">Cet excellent pneu d'été
[...]</description>
</item>
but if the xml schema allows at most one "description" element as a child of
"item", this document wouldn't be valid with respect to the schema.
Another issue is, that xml processors are not required to take care of the
xml:lang attribute, hence the descriptions for irrelevant languages will not
be filtered out. In the above document fraction, I would expect that xml
processors should extract the description for the current language, and if
there is none such, they should extract the first description in the
sequence.
Can anyone point me out of this vicious circle, and show me how to work with
the xml:lang attribute correctly? Thanks,
