Keith Moore, Scott Bradner and I have been discussing the problems and proposals for E.164 numbering which floats around in the IETF, and we have came to the conclusion that we will NOT accept any publications of such papers before the Chicago IETF. At that IETF meeting we will have a separate meeting just talking about E.164 numbering, their allocation, their usage on the Internet, resolution, routing and directory services. I ask you all to _think_ about these issues, discuss them like in this discussion, but not hope that resolution can happen, will happen, or that the resolution means something. At that same meeting, IN signalling over the Internet will also be discussed. After the IETF, the IESG will descide upon a strategy for further discussions.
