Re: Audience measurement permitted use issue-25

Unfortunately, I'll not be able to be on the call Wednesday -- I will be boarding a plane around 915 Pacific (I'm at IAPP academy in Bellevue). Mike, I'm sure can speak to the differences between my and his proposal better than I can.

We'll probably walk through ESOMAR's proposed amendment and identify spots for friendly amendments, and we'll also talk about whether there's a difference between Lee's proposal (just use de-ID data) and Mike's (no dedicated exception). Also, we'll invite other ideas based on what we've discussed before (or otherwise) --- use of short-term data for measurement/research, other ideas, &c. More ideas are welcome (not due tomorrow, but if you want to float them for discussion, please do by all means!).

Lee Tien has submitted a change proposal that would only allow deidentified data to be used for audience measurement (though that may not be necessary, as you can use deidentified data for anything under the standard). You could suggest a friendly amendment to Lee that it would be better to just remove audience measurement as a permitted use entirely, or submit your own change proposal. We will discuss more tomorrow.
