Re: ComicSeries publisher/imprint

I'd be pretty happy with anything that allows capturing and using all of the data without requiring folks to understand something like this (which is actually out of date and doesn't cover brand groups, which are new): http://docs.comics.org/wiki/User%27s_Guide_to_Publishers

It looks like the Freebase example uses Imprint and Publisher as generic parent/child relationships without otherwise specifying the details.  That seems flexible, even if "imprint" isn't always accurate (I admit it's the most common term).  In order to leverage data such as the GCDs, being able to somehow annotate these things, or the links between a publication and these things, would I think cover the rest of it well enough.

I may be reading this wrong but is an imprint limited to just one publisher?  There are quite a few jointly owned entities, not to mention the ones that shift over time.  Can something be both an imprint and publisher with further imprints?  There are definitely multi-level structures.

thanks,
-henry
