I must admit I did not about neither of these two.
Toby, your link seems to refer to a (Perl?) software. I wonder whether there is a written description of the HTML+Microdata->RDFa transformation? Even better (worse?:-) do you think it would be possible write that down in the form of a WG Note? I would be happy to help you and I would also try to find some time to implement that preprocessing step on top of pyRdfa (I already have a structure where a new 'preprocessor' can be added easily if it is a DOM->DOM transformation). I think such a note would be great.
