If I am unsuccessful in shortening an existing meeting, I will miss at least the first 30 minutes of this call. Apologies. -Rick From: Bill McCoy <bmccoy@w3.org> Organization: W3C Date: Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 7:14 PM To: 'W3C Publishing Steering Committee' <public-publishing-sc@w3.org> Cc: Rachel Comerford <rachel.comerford@macmillan.com>, Dave Cramer <dauwhe@gmail.com>, 'Ivan Herman' <ivan@w3.org> Subject: Publishing BG planning meeting Friday Nov 17 11am ET Resent-From: <public-publishing-sc@w3.org> Resent-Date: Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 7:13 PM Hi, On behalf of the Publishing BG co-chairs I’ve set up a special call this Friday in lieu of bi-weekly cross-pub-group chairs meeting. This meeting is for purposes of further work on planning goals and activities of the PBG and its Steering Committee (including how the PBG and PBG-SC interact with the PWG and EPUB3-CG, as well as of course other W3C groups). This call is following up from a number of ad hoc discussions during TPAC week. A number of folks involved in those discussions have already confirmed for this time but we realize that with short notice we can’t expect 100% participation and it will surely be an ongoing discussion. The issues on the table include process and timing of SC elections but is definitely not limited to that. We would like to reach agreement on what the BG should be doing and how it should be operating effectively on an ongoing basis to fulfill its mission and complement the other groups. A main focus, since getting the group rolling in March, has been the organization and program of the Publishing Summit. I think this was an extremely successful event (see: https://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/industry-news/trade-shows-events/article/75372-digital-publishers-find-shared-purpose-at-w3c-publishing-summit.html ) and we can all be pleased with the result. But to some extent the significant effort on this detracted from getting a clear model in place around where we go from here on. Now we have to figure that out. From W3C team side, there is desire to do more to support the BG (including the potential for more concrete help from me). All PBG Steering Committee members are invited along with the co-chairs of the related groups. IRC: #pbgsc Call-in info is below. Anyone else who has been part of these discussions – or others who want to chime in before the call – please don’t hesitate.
