Another similar idea I had was to use <caption><details> to allow an 
extended summary that would be accessible to all users including those 
that do not use a screenreader but find navigating tables to be complex 
for some other reason. It would avoid the midden metadata problem of 
@summary and (to a lesser extent) @title. However I have not thought 
this through very carefully so there may be some major flaw with it.
