Hello all, Just a quick report out on the series of APAC CCG calls we have been running throughout October. We held a series of three interesting and well attended calls: - Henry Hang presented on Turing Space's suite of products for credential issuance and verification: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-credentials/2025Oct/0017.html - Anand Acharya provided an update to Bhutans National Digital Identity program: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-credentials/2025Oct/0029.html - Rey Vea and Haemiwan Fathony discussed microcredentialing in education from an Indonesian and Singaporean perspective: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-credentials/2025Oct/0038.html My sense from these talks was that they were only a small taste of the adoption of and innovation with Verifiable Credentials in the Asia Pacific region. Which is fantastic to see and hear about. Many thanks to all those who presented to the community! Unfortunately, the final call of the series which was intended as an open discussion reflecting on next steps for APAC CCG calls was less successful with only one attendee from California of all places. So here are my own reflections: - The call time on 12pm UTC worked seemed to work well, many presenters voiced a preference for this evening time over a call time in the 9-5 working day. - Having an APAC call every week is too regular, at least initially. Maybe once a month would be more realistic and sustainable. - There was not much continuity of participation across the series. It will take time to build a core of participants like we have for the Tuesday calls. - Not many attendees were aware of the CCG or signed up to its mailing list. I wonder what we could do to improve this? In summary, I think there is a lot of potential to provide an open forum for folks working on decentralized identity adjacent technologies to share their work and explore avenues for collaboration. However, it will take consistent commitment and effort to make this happen. Without someone willing to champion this effort from the Asia Pacific region, I struggle to see how this will happen. At the moment, I do not anticipate planning further APAC CCG calls. I welcome any feedback, thoughts or suggestions. Either reply to this email or reach out to me directly. I will also be at TPAC in Kobe, Japan in November and would be happy to discuss this with you there. Thanks, Will Abramson
