Appendix: Alternatives to Hit Metering

There are a number of other ways that it might be possible to
gather demographic information that would respond to a variety
of needs. This document in no way discourages the experimentation
and promulgation of such alternative means.

There has been considerable speculation that statistical sampling
methods might be useful, for example, to gather reasonably
accurate data, e.g., by carefully manipulating cache expiry
dates for selected addresses at various periods of time.
