Re: XLink 1.1: Open issues?

/ Bjoern Hoehrmann <derhoermi@gmx.net> was heard to say:
| Dear XML Core Working Group,
|
| http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/WD-xlink11-20050707/ has been published as
| Last Call Working Draft but I could not find responses that formally
| address comments on the previous drafts, e.g.

Working groups are not obligated to respond formally to comments made
on every working draft. The WG discussed these comments and decided to
proceed to Last Call with the current draft.

| Where can I find responses that formally address these comments?

Our mandate in producing XLink 1.1 is clearly specified in our charter[1]

A number of simple extensions to XLink 1.0 have been proposed. The
XML Core Working Group published a Working Group Note describing
specific possible changes and will produce XLink 1.1 to implement
   these changes.

We do not have a remit to make broad changes to the specification.

I would (personally) support an effort to revise XLink in a more
global way, but such revisions would probably require the formation of
a new XLink WG. The Core WG, acting as the stewards of XLink in the
absence of such a WG, are attempting to address a few very specific
issues.

                                        Be seeing you,
                                          norm
