I always prefered to stay away from XLink 
as IMHO it is quite awkward language.
Most probably I won't use Xlink 1.1 either.
One of the reasons is that Xlink involves too many
attributes and none of them has default value.
Nice to see that after four years Xlink WG 
realized that we need default value for type
attribute and this value should be "simple".
Now how much time do you need to realize that show 
and actuate attributes also need meaningful default values?
Do you think that polluting internal DTD subset is good practice?
If so I will stick to XHTML hyperlinks/objects that add less junk to
document.
