Hi Umit. I remember you as the originator yesterday of the idea of using expected media type to specify optimization hints. Looking at the minutes and the straw polls[1], it's still not clear in my head what you are proposing exactly. I see 2 interpretations: - adding a mechanism to specify hints base on expected media types (which is what I think you told me when I asked the question on the call): | Straw Poll #2: Do we want to use expectedMediaType for controlling what | gets optimized? - adding some text saying that expected media types may be used to indicate optimization hints, without defining the mechanism ourselves: | [dbooth: Straw poll: Do we want to say anything about whether expected | media type MAY, SHOULD or MUST be used to control what gets optimized?] Note that those are two different formulations of the same straw poll, for which I feel differently. While the second one is broader than the first one and includes it, the last straw poll seems to confirm my second interpretation: | [Dbooth: Straw poll: Do we want to say that expected media type: | (a) MAY be used to control optimization; or | (b) SHOULD or MUST be used to control optimization. I'd be grateful if you (or somebody else for that matter) could send some proposed text for the spec so that I can clarify my ideas. Thanks.
