WEBONT homework

are exploring Semantic Web technologies in different application areas:
knowledge
management (e.g. human resource competence ontologies, virtual
organizations,
cooperation between different departments [1] usnig multiple
ontologies),
E-Learning [2], and knowledge and community portals [3].

Requirements for a web ontology language from our point of view are:

 - representation of a lexical layer within ontologies (also
   for instances)

 - modularization principles (enforcing interoperability by reuse)

 - scalability

 - representation of mapping rules between different ontologies

 - support different complexity layers concerning
   expressive capabilities

Best,
Alexander Maedche
