Hi www-style, Currently, the flexbox ED has this text: # As a special case for handling stretched flex items, if a # single-line flex container has a definite cross size, the # outer cross size of any flex items with align-self: stretch # is the flex container's inner cross size (clamped to the # flex item's min and max cross size) http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css-flexbox/#layout-algorithm I think that language is a little too broad. In particular, the phrase "any flex items with align-self: stretch" is too broad. It needs a qualifier like: # ...and whose cross-size property computes to 'auto' ...because "align-self:stretch" is only supposed to have an effect for flex items whose cross-size property is 'auto', per: http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css-flexbox/#valuedef-stretch0 Thanks, ~Daniel
