Elliot, not sure whether you mean it's a bug in Webkit or Firefox Regardless, it persists even to today's newly released Firefox v.29. The correct behaviour should be that an event is picked up, given the pseudo elements are nested within the parent element. All the major browsers do this already. It would assist developers if Firefox could follow suit here. — R
