While trying to understand [1] I think I noticed an error in http://www.w3.org/TR/2011/REC-CSS2-20110607/zindex.html . The bullet numbered 7.2.2 should, I believe, be indented one additional level, and numbered as 7.2.1.5. Fundamentally, I think this is because it doesn't make sense that we should draw the outline of an element for each line box in that element, which is what the current text says. I don't even know what this means. I think it was intended to say that outlines on inline elements should be drawn as part of 7.2.1.
