Dear W3: I would like to offer my feed back regarding NOTE-css-potential-19970819 (particularly the portion regarding balanced columns) and NOTE-CSS-potential-19981210 (which I believe was regarding balanced columns, but I am not sure). I would like to urge the consortium (if they have not already) to adopt tags that support balanced columns as part of their standard. For site builders that deal with large collections of short paragraphs of text (like verses in scriptures) this would be of tremendous value to help us both maximze the use of our screen real estate as well as present the text in a more visually appealing manner. Particularly when that text is also heavily interspersed with text that is revealed and hidden on demand by users. Eyeballing the column division for thousands of pages is not the answer. I am casting my vote (if it counts in any way) for balanced columns to be implemented. I appreciate your attention in this matter and look forward to their implementation someday.
