Meaning of User Interface color names

I am a little confused what the ThreeD... keywords apply to. Most
specifically, it looks like ThreeDDarkShadow and ThreeDShadow are exactly
the same. If so, why have two? (apologies if this is an old issue.)

ThreeDHighlight 
   Highlight color for three-dimensional display elements.

   facing the light source). 
ThreeDShadow 
   Dark shadow for three-dimensional display elements.
