To accommodate those attempting to catch outbound flights on Thursday afternoon, I may suggest a slightly earlier start on Thursday. Attending: SIMILE PIs and Program Manager Mick Bass David Karger MacKenzie Smith Eric Miller SIMILE HP Core Team Rob Tansley Mark Butler John Erickson Genesis Bernard Burg Kevin Smathers Jena Martin Merry Andy Seaborne The following people are booked for rooms at Endicott House on Tuesday evening. Endicott House will have sandwiches available upon checkin. Please let me know if the consensus of the group is to have dinner together in Cambridge and depart later, so I can arrange transportation accordingly and let Endicott House know. There will be a dinner on Wed. night. I've suggested a bar. MacKenzie - please let me know if there is a problem billing this to MIT/SIMILE. On Thursday afternoon Martin, Andy, Eric, and Bernard will depart for the airport circa 3pm. (HP has arranged a car and driver for their transport - with four, it may be a bit tight. Please let me know if we need two cars instead.) I would like to conclude the sessions by then but would like to reserve the right to carry on 'till 4pm to finish up business that can be concluded in their absence. Anything not covered? Please let me know! > b. Walk-through Agenda for Plenary > - MB to email Thurs PM > - How meeting to be conducted (nature of sessions, etc) Below is a plan for the two days that I prepared previously. I expect to be able to tune this based on a more accurate understanding of SIMILE current state, and the PI one-on-one calls that I have been holding this week. The timings may change slightly. However, I do not expect that such tuning will be able to occur before Monday. I would welcome any insights or suggestions that you might have regarding this plan for conducting the Plenary. --- PROPOSED AGENDA SIMILE PLENARY We 23, Th 24 July 2003 MIT Endicott House, Dedham, MA http://www.mitendicotthouse.org/ Day 1 - Wednesday 8:30a start Session 1 Structure & High-Level Plan for 3-yr effort Review & Discuss Session 2 End-to-End Use Cases definition, clarification Test consensus End-to-End Functional Decomposition Lunch Session 3 Activity (Prototype, Demonstrator, Investigation, Survey) Scoping Review Existing Proposed Activities Propose Activities Tune Activity Definitions Test Mapping to Use Cases 6:00p finish Group Dinner --- Day 2- Thursday 8:30a start Session 1 Capture Work Breakdown Structure tasks definitions Session 2 Create Plan task priorities task dependencies key milestones assignments Lunch Session 3 Tune Plan 3:00p Carriages ============================================= Mick Bass Manager Research and Business Development HP Laboratories Hewlett-Packard Company 1 Cambridge Center Cambridge, MA 02142 617.551.7634 office 240.536.0765 fax 617.899.3938 mobile 303.494.5202 residence bass@alum.mit.edu mick_bass@hp.com =============================================
