Dear W3C, I hereby urge you to rethink the patent-policy you are proposing. I don't think that the W3C in it's early days would have ever made such a proposal, because it knew back then that such a system would lead to defragmentation among the (patented) 'standards' that web-software would implement and hamper the Internet in it's growth to the full potential that was forseen by the people with vision at the W3C. Therefore it hurts me to see that now the Web had become what you envisioned it to be, you don't care about it's proliferation and the ideas behind the orginal vision anymore and wish to be bought by companies who's only vision is to make money. It's clear to me that if this new policy will be adopted by you that "power corrupts" (definitely). -- Matthijs
