Against patented standards

I sincerely hope that the W3C decides against the use of patents and
licensing fees with their standards.  Standards must remain open, and
available to anyone, in order for true compatibility.  Patenting
standards and charging licensing fees for their use would serve only
to strengthen the position of big business, and help them drive out
their competition, especially in the cases where their competition
consists of Free Software projects.

Please, please do not allow this travesty to occur.
