It is dependent on expectations, I think most (but not all) people have experiences with dull/faded controls meaning it is disabled.



However, I’ve also seen disabled controls which do have good contrast confusing people more because they thought they were active. “Why doesn’t this thing work? It looks like it should work.”



We need an alternative method of showing that state that works across various situations & color schemes to change that exception in future.
