RE: CFC - Add Dragging SC to WCAG 2.2 draft

Hi Glenda,

The last meeting we had on this was after the survey comments, and we believe (on the calls) they had all been addressed at that point.

We’ll see what Wilco says on the latest comments, but (for example) his comments from the survey were addressed and discussed in the calls. Those change have been there since mid-February, and it was discussed again in March (24th).

If there is something not addressed or discussed in the calls, please do point to that.

Cheers,

-Alastair

Alastair et al,

I have closely reviewed Wilco's questions and have those same questions myself. In looking at the survey, I see similar concerns. So, I believe these questions should be addressed before we advance.

Hey Alastair,

I have a few questions I wanted to raise,

- In this definition of "dragging movement", does "target" refer to "target" as defined in WCAG 2.1. If so, should it be linked to the target definition? And if not, why was the same word used here? Seems that might be confusing, especially since both uses are related to pointer events.

- Also in "dragging movement", what is "directionality at the onset of the movement"? Was that added because of my comment on swiping? If so, I don't think that actually excludes swiping.

- Was the intent not to include dragging motions where instead of moving the "target" along with the pointer, some other UI indicator was used? For example some games when you drag something around will draw an arrow from the target to the drop position. The definition of "dragging movement" seems to exclude those kinds of drag and drop actions.

Kind regards,

W

Call For Consensus — ends Friday May 1st at 12pm (midday) Boston time.

The Working Group has discussed the new Success Criteria for WCAG 2.2: Dragging.

The Pull Request in github shows the new SC (in the understanding document), and includes links to preview the understanding document, and the techniques:
https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/1113

This was discussed via a survey:
https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/35422/wcag22-dragging/results

And the last call was:
https://www.w3.org/2020/02/18-ag-minutes.html#item04

If you have concerns about this proposed consensus position that have not been discussed already and feel that those concerns result in you “not being able to live with” this decision, please let the group know before the CfC deadline.

Kind regards,

-Alastair
