ACTION: JR to propose a definition of programmatically determined. ================================================================== programmatically determined (programmatically determinable) When information is encoded in a way that allows different software, including assistive technologies, to extract and present the information to users in different modalities. For non-Web-based user interfaces, this means making use of a platform accessibility architecture. For Web-based user interfaces, this means following WCAG 2.0 so that the user agent can pass on the information. ACTION: JR to write a definition for Display Preferences. ========================================================= display preferences The author(s) choice of settings (e.g., *display settings*, keyboard bindings, etc.). display settings The characteristics of a display that can be modified. The characteristics vary according to the modality of the display: audio: the characteristics of audio output of music, sounds and speech. Examples include volume, speech voices, voice speed, and voice emphasis. visual: the characteristics of the on-screen rendering of text and graphics. Examples include fonts, sizes, colors, spacing, positioning, and contrast. tactile: the characteristics of haptic outputs. Examples include the magnitude of the haptic forces and the types of vibration. ACTION: JR to write a proposed definition of "available" ======================================================= Actually, I think because "available" is used in a variety of ways it would be better to wait for the "Understanding" bullets in the techniques - in the meantime here's a suggested wordsmithing of A.2.1.1: A.2.1.1 Alternative Content: If an editing view renders Web content that has recognized alternative content, provide the alternative content to the author(s).
