Maybe you're aware of them but the Voice XML Italian user group are
quite active and there are people there (like Paolo Baggia) who have
greatly contributed to SSML. I don't think they have translated it
already but they might know of other efforts.

I don't remember there ever was an XML source. All the editor gave us
was the final XHTML file.
