>We ought to. Why go out of our way to make it difficult to live in >both worlds. Surely anyone who can write an XML parser at all can >handle this trivially. I am sympathetic to this, except for the SGML-imposed requirement that EMPTY tags must take minimization "- O" if they could be pure "noise" elements I wouldn't mind, but explaining that restriction in the context of "compatibility" is sure to be difficult. Could we get the "- O" minimization flag requirement removed in the SGML update? Then it would make sense to allow minimization flags in XML. Otherwise, I'm not sure that it is worth the verbiage. -- David _________________________________________ David Durand dgd@cs.bu.edu \ david@dynamicDiagrams.com Boston University Computer Science \ Sr. Analyst http://www.cs.bu.edu/students/grads/dgd/ \ Dynamic Diagrams --------------------------------------------\ http://dynamicDiagrams.com/ MAPA: mapping for the WWW \__________________________
