I wasn't comparing it to procedural languages like Java.

I was comparing it to declarative languages, of which Aristotle's
syllogisms were the first.

The central focus of the SemWeb is, or should be, semantics.
The most difficult problem is knowledge acquisition, and any
distraction from semantics makes a difficult problem worse.
