My name is Claudio Venezia W3C AC Rep for Telecom Italia.
We have been involved in W3C technical work since 2005 contributing to Semantic annotation to Web Services (SAWSDL), Widgets (later Web APP) WG, SVG and Social Web XG. We are currently contributing to DAP WG, POI WG and WebID IG.
I was part of the program committee of the W3C Workshop on the Future of Social Networking, 15-16 January 2009, Barcelona, which concretely kicked off W3C vision of the future of the social Web.
Telecom Italia agrees with W3C's vision, identifies interesting analogies with what inspired the evolution of the mobile Telecommunication domain during its early stage and is concerned to create the basis to achieve an open and distributed Social Web recognizing W3C's role critical for this mission.
Besides a strategic interest we have also some concrete technical work going on in this area, my colleague Walter Goix is engaged in prototyping (mobile) federation mechanisms for Social networks and will join the group as well serving our on field experience.
