Hi all, Apologies for missing the call yesterday. I was in the air. Nonetheless, I figure I'd better announce my presence: I'm Ben Werdmuller, currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland, but imminently relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area. I was the technical co-founder of an open source social networking project called Elgg, which started in the elearning world but these days has a much wider userbase, including as an intranet platform. Our initial versions, in 2004/05, experimented with various federation / open web tactics, including a traffic light verification scheme for OpenID domains and profile import/export via FOAF (!). I left the project a few years ago, and for a while was unable to work on social networking projects. However, that limitation is no longer present, and there's a lot I want to do. I'm CTO of a company called latakoo, whose video project will grow to embrace the open, social web, and I'm in the planning stages of a new open source social software project called idno. I'm also the Geek in Residence at the Edinburgh Festivals, including the world's largest arts festival, and they have a strong interest in facilitating short-term social networks around their events and resources. I'm very much looking forward to participating in this group. Ben -- Ben Werdmuller von Elgg Web: http://benwerd.com/ Twitter: @benwerd Phone: +44 7773 385 490
