Dear members of the Web of Things Interest Group, I'm relaying the Call for Participation to the Interest Group's primarily public mailing list, to notify the group of its Revised Charter Approved. Best regards, Xueyuan -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Web of Things Interest Group Revised Charter Approved: join the Web of Things Interest Group (Call for Participation) Date: Mon, 1 Aug 2016 22:43:45 +0800 From: Xueyuan Jia <xueyuan@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-members@w3.org CC: chairs@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, Chairs, The Director is pleased to announce the re-charter of the Web of Things Interest Group: http://www.w3.org/2016/07/wot-ig-charter.html The revised charter updates the list of deliverables and extends the group until 31 December 2018. The mission of the Web of Things Interest Group is to counter the fragmentation of the Internet of Things by introducing a Web-based abstraction layer capable of interconnecting existing Internet of Things platforms and complementing available standards. We aim to reduce costs through the global reach of Web standards, to enable open markets of services, and to unleash the power of the network effect. As a W3C Interest Group, we are seeking to build a shared understanding of the Web of Things, and to identify opportunities for initiating standards track work within W3C working groups. Liaisons between W3C, industry alliances and standards development organizations are already in discussion for two critical areas: semantic interoperability and end-to-end security across different platforms. Please use the following form to join the group; the form will also instruct you how to nominate participants: http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/75874/join Current participants are not required to rejoin this group because as an Interest Group, there are no requirements for W3C Patent Policy licensing commitments by participants in respect to the group's deliverables. The Interest Group chair is Jörg Heuer (Siemens). The W3C Staff Contacts are Dave Raggett, Kazuyuki Ashimura, and Yingying Chen for a total of 0.4 FTE. More information about the Interest Group can be found at: http://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/ [...] This announcement follows section 7.1.2 of the W3C Process Document: http://www.w3.org/2015/Process-20150901/#ACReviewAfter and the Call for Participation follows section 5.2.4 of the W3C Process Document: http://www.w3.org/2015/Process-20150901/#cfp Thank you, For Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, Philipp Hoschka, Ubiquitous Web Domain Lead, and Dave Raggett, Kazuyuki Ashimura, and Yingying Chen, Web of Things Interest Group Staff Contacts; Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications
