Hello everyone. I'm Christopher Slye. I have worked in the Type Development group at Adobe Systems since 1997, coinciding more or less with the OpenType era. Before that I did type-related contract work for Monotype (TrueType hinting) and elsewhere, and designed a typeface family (which is sold by Font Bureau). Before that I did freelance graphic design and some web development. At Adobe, I have been assisting with design, development and production of OpenType fonts. This has included the initial conversion of the Adobe Type Library to OpenType format, a subsequent library-wide revision, and working with designers in the creation of new Adobe Originals typeface families. Since early 2009 I have been representing Adobe in web font matters, and likewise advising/opining internally, which has led to peripheral involvement in some Adobe standards work. I am also a board member of SOTA (the Society of Typographic Aficionados), which hosts the annual TypeCon conference. I am a life-long resident of the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm very much looking forward to working with everyone here in the Working Group, and hope I can contribute something of value to the outcome. -Christopher
