I should add that as of today, you can already use the Vehicle Sales Ontology in combination with GoodRelations in RDFa in a way that validates with Google - as of now!
Example:

Result in the Rich Snippet Testing Tool:

Volkswagen is using this in combination with their GoodRelations extensions
http://purl.org/vvo/ns
and
http://purl.org/coo/ns

Microformats have Vehicles as part of Item (http://microformats.org/wiki/item-examples#Vehicles).

I'm very keen to use Microdata but for something announced by Google, Bing and Yahoo (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/introducing-schemaorg-search-engines.html) the website doesn't seem very active, or does it all happen here?
