We'll need to observe how the ActivityPub component is implemented, but the
innovation potential is immense. They've divided the friendship graph and
the activity protocol, unlike ActivityPub's combined approach, which often
complicates scalability, interoperability, and extensibility.

This separation could allow Threads to scale remarkably well with proven
web architecture. We certainly need new ideas in this space, and Threads
could be the game-changer, enabling the open social web to overcome its
hurdles and compete with major players.
