"Define the further steps for appendix e: accessibility support" - http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/WG/track/actions/3756 The action is on Rich, but here is my proposal: The SVG accessibility Task Force wiki contains the start of a document on authoring advice: <https://www.w3.org/wiki/SVG_Accessibility/Authoring> My goal is to expand this, until we have something useful on authoring, which could be an appendix or a note. In particular, the work also involves creating WCAG techniques and getting that group to collect them, so we would be able to link as relevant. The TF is also trying to collect information on how browsers implement accessibility features of SVG. I hope that develops into a "browser implementation guide" which would be an informal document, to begin with a Wiki page but perhaps at some point a Note. That task is non-trivial - we have very poor understanding of the real navigation requirements that SVG implementation somehow needs to support - in the browser? in the source? - we think there are things that could be in ARIA that would help but we still have a limited set of ideas on what they should cover, and we are grappling with the fact that real-world support at the moment is often so poor that we don't even have enough tools to do useful experiments. But I think these two related efforts will produce things that are progressively improving replacements for the existing appendix e. It might be worth excerpting them in whatever state they are when SVG hits CR into an appendix, but I suspect it would be very valuable to drive readers to look at the ongoing work in its latest state, since it is likely to be in development for some time beyond then. cheers Chaals -- Charles McCathie Nevile - web standards - CTO Office, Yandex chaals@yandex-team.ru - - - Find more at http://yandex.com
