First note that svg 2 is **not** adding any new features. But documenting ideas is worth and trying to understand any possible issues. Just we are clear about the context of the discussion. Nit: x and y are probably not the right way of calling this. If I understand the proposal you would like a way to specify the point coordinates in the shape which should align with the baseline of the text. How is the shape inserted in the line of text?
