Dear Colleagues, My name is Chris Little, and I have been a meteorologist at the UK Met Office for decades. Currently, I am the Co-Chair of OGC Meteorology and Oceanography Domain Working Group and also the OGC Temporal Domain WG, and was recently elected to the OGC Architecture Board. Several National Meteorological Services joined OGC about 6 years ago, because nobody outside our community wanted to use our globally standardised data formats and everyone found them too demanding, so we would like to promulgate our Best Practices and to influence the geospatial community standards to be more suitable for multi-dimensional, cross-domain environmental data with lifetimes from a few hours to a few centuries. I have also been involved in international standardisation and scientific visualisation through both ISO and WMO. I am a newcomer to W3C too, but recognise that we need consistency of results whether using catalogues, search engines or linked data approaches, and the Met Office became a member of W3C last year. I am looking forward to working with you, and though tempted, we cannot all lurk all the time!
