RE: [SDW-WG] Introduction

Dear Colleagues,

I’m Simon Cox, and have been a research scientist at CSIRO for a long time, with temporary sojourns at Monash Uni and the European Commission (working with the INSPIRE team). I started my adult life as a geophysicist, but moved into informatics in the early 1990s, standing up the first web mapping service for geosciences in 1995 (no longer alive, needless to say). I’ve been involved in ‘standards’ activities for yonks (I prefer to think of them as ‘agreements’ with open participation arrangements), particularly through Dublin Core, Open Geospatial Consortium, ISO and the Research Data Alliance. I was an occasional participant on the SSN project, but will also be learning the W3C technology.

While I was not able to be present at the workshop last year, I’ve been paying keen attention and have been actively generating some inputs for this working group meanwhile.
