Do IRIs indicate, identify, refer to, or denote datatypes?

Hi Pat,

Do I correctly understand that datatypes can be (interchangeably) "indicated",
"identified", "referred to", or "denoted by" IRIs (as above), or am I missing
some subtle distinctions?

I'd find it less confusing if one of them -- I'd vote for "denoted by", though
"referred to" fits better with the notion of "referent" -- were used
consistently.  A parenthetical comment could perhaps acknowledge synonyms that
are used in other writing about RDF.
